Is yogurt the key to curing prediabetes, a condition in which blood sugar levels are elevated but not high enough to qualify as diabetes? A recent study conducted in Iran, which followed more than 300 participants for nine years, found that consuming 200 g of full-fat yogurt every day helped people reverse hyperglycemia and stop it from progressing to Type 2 diabetes. Dr. Jasjeet Singh Wasir, Director of Endocrinology and Diabetology at Medanta, Gururgam, concurs that yoghurt may help those who have prediabetes because Indians have a tendency to develop full-blown diabetes extremely quickly. "Yogurt by itself won't be able to reverse prediabetes, though, unless it's accompanied by other corrective measures," he continues.
